Therapy has moved on a long way since the view of the therapist as the ‘expert’ on the client, sitting silently opposite. That is just not me, and how I work is very different. I see our work as a collaboration, and I will share what I’m thinking with you frequently. We will work together to explore what’s going on for you. I may ask you some tricky questions sometimes, I may challenge you, but I never push my clients where they don’t want to go.. You are the expert on you.
It was my own experience of counselling as a student that made me see the true value of speaking openly and honestly with someone totally neutral. The counselling relationship is like no other. I didn't have to worry about her feelings, whether she would judge me or whether she would tell someone else. It was an incredible experience, and it is the reason I'm a counsellor today.
I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, depression, bereavement and existential crises. I also have experience of working with addiction, childhood abuse, hoarding, depression, relationship problems, stress, feeling sad, panic, low self-esteem and low confidence, amongst others.
I chose an integrative training because I believe we are so unique that trying to use the same single approach with every person and every problem just doesn’t work. I can tailor-make the techniques I use in our work together to you and what you’re bringing.
